One in five young women experience image based bullying on a regular basis, both in-person and online. If you ask the Supré team, this is so not ok – and we’re sure you all agree.

The Supré Foundation is joining forces with the Alannah & Madeline Foundation to take a stand against image based bullying with the launch of its campaign Share This! Image Based Bullying. So Not OK.

Image based bullying is when intimate or sexual photos/ videos are shared online without consent, either to humiliate or shame someone, or for ‘entertainment’. Research shows 76 per cent of youth who experienced image based bullying did not report the incident with 33 per cent having their names shared along with the image distributed, without their consent.

Caitlin, a now 22 year-old young woman experienced image-based bullying during high-school, with her first encounter in year 9 after a group of boys circulated intimate images of Caitlin and her friends without permission.

The guilt, shame and blame these young girls received was so great that one girl left school and has struggled with mental health issues since.

The Share This! Image Based Bullying. So Not Ok, campaign aims to empower young people to make informed decisions, change perceptions and reduce incidences of image based bullying. The two Foundations will do this through in school workshops, an awareness campaign and the distribution of a free, pocket sized booklet available in Supré’s 90 stores across Australia.

The Alannah & Madeline Foundation’s CEO, Lesley Podesta said Supré Foundation’s commitment to eliminating bullying aligns closely with their own.

We have spent more than a decade working to reduce bullying and cyber bullying. Supré’s ground breaking work in this area is extremely powerful, and we’re proud to be partnering in this campaign around image based bullying.

Supré Foundation’s Brand Manager, Vanessa Tindale is passionate about continuing the message the brand’s first campaign booklet sent to youths.

Share This! is phase two of our ongoing commitment to stamp out bullying, following the success of our award winning launch initiative Bullying. So Not Ok. which has seen over 250,000 booklets distributed nationally.

The Share This! Image Based Bullying. So Not Ok. booklets are available in store nationwide from today and a dedicated microsite bullyingsonotok.com offers further information, advice and support as well as the downloadable eBook.

This morning also saw Alli Simpson, Share This! ambassador host a breakfast event at Supre Sydney City which was attended by influencers and media. This was a great opportunity guests to learn more about Supre Foundation’s initiative and help spread the word about the issue of image based bullying.
