Celebrating our people and customers across Asia and the globe over Lunar New Year
This week we celebrate our people and customers all across Asia and the globe, as they gear up for Lunar New Year.
With a Wishing Tree setup up at our Global Support Centre in Geelong, Australia, celebrations with our team across Asia, and customer giveaways wrapped in red and gold ready to go in selected stores, today we’re excited to welcome the Year of The Ox.
We sat down (virtually) with some of our global team members to hear what the Lunar New Year means to them and how they will welcome this new chapter.
Something we learned about the year of the Ox…
In Chinese culture, the Ox is a valued animal because of its role in agriculture and its positive characteristics, such as being hardworking and honest.
Xin Rong, Retail Manager – Singapore
“Knowing the Ox is a very honest, hard-working and down to earth animal, what this means to me is I need to stay positive, keep working hard towards my goals and dreams, as well as being honest and staying true to myself.”
Libby Xiao, Global Support Centre – Geelong, Australia
“In the lead up to the New Year we always do a big, thorough house clean. In Chinese, this means you’re getting rid of the “old dust” and getting ready to step into a new year, full of good luck and prosperity. And of course shopping – just like Christmas shopping. You need to prepare the food, gifts and new clothes. Wearing new clothes on the first day of New Year will bring you luck for the year ahead.”
Boyan Choi, Retail Manager – Hong Kong
“Playing games like Mahjong is one of the absolute highlights of the Lunar New Year celebrations for me, as it’s when I get to spend quality and fun time with the people I care about most.”
As always, we’re backing our team in Asia as they do what they do best giving our customer incredible experiences. Plus, we’re excited to see our people take some time out to reflect and celebrate the New Year.
