Cotton On Tells its Denim Story

4th August, 2026

For the first time, Cotton On is celebrating the denim that has defined the brand since 1991, when its first-ever denim jacket sold out of the back of a vintage Bronco. Since then, Cotton On has been dressing people across 20 countries with an effortless, everyday style grounded in unmistakable Australian ease and the new denim range is the clearest expression of that yet.

“Easy going, on purpose” is the philosophy behind the range, and the brand more broadly. Rather than following every trend, Cotton On has spent more than three decades refining its fashion instinct – understanding what feels relevant today and what will still feel right tomorrow. The result is denim built on the right fit, the right fabric and the right wash. It’s denim for the emerging photographers shooting on weekends, the creatives editing late at night, and the people setting the tone before everyone else catches on.

That point of view comes to life through a campaign shot by internationally recognised photographer Menelik Puryear, bringing together global talent and modern creatives to capture the confidence, ease and optimism that has always defined the brand.

“Everyone has that pair of jeans they reach for without thinking. That’s the pair we’re always trying to create. We put a lot of care into every fit, fabric and wash so that when you put them on, they just feel right – and become the pair you keep coming back to,” said Michelle Pacey, Brand Director, Cotton On Womens. For the ones building something. Becoming something. Figuring it out along the way. The range spans both Women’s and Men’s, with an expanded fit offering designed around how Australians actually wear denim day to day. “Not all denim is created equally. The most important design decisions are often the quietest. Every pair is built by a team with a deep understanding of what makes good denim good, with every detail refined until it feels effortless,” said Dylan Cambridge, Brand Director, Cotton On Mens.

The range includes wide leg and barrel silhouettes, thoughtfully proportioned to balance volume with a flattering, easy-to-wear shape. A refreshed straight leg, positioned as the collection’s hero fit, designed to move seamlessly from day to night. Updated fits across core washes, developed in response to customer fit feedback.

Considered wash story spanning vintage indigo, mid-blue stonewash, black and fresh white denim, with thoughtfully considered stitching and hardware that complement each wash – including styles made with 20–30% recycled cotton, blended with virgin cotton to maintain durability and feel.

The range has been designed with the same instinct that runs through every piece Cotton On makes – worn interchangeably, layered, dressed up or down – because that’s what a fashion brand’s denim should do.

“This campaign isn’t about doing something different with denim; it’s about getting closer to who we’ve always been. It’s an evolution of our brand DNA, not a departure from it. That’s why we brought in Menelik Puryear, his ability to make everyday moments feel considered without losing any of the energy is exactly the tension we wanted between the fit and the story,” said Sarah Webb, Creative Director, Cotton On.
