Our story
Picture this: It’s 1988 and our first ‘shop’ is the boot of a Ford Bronco parked at The Beckley Market in Geelong, Australia. Inside? A stack of denim jackets. It was the start of something big.
Growing up in a beachside town in Australia, our founder started Cotton On with an epic vision: he wanted to take effortless Aussie fashion to the world and do Good along the way. The first Cotton On store opened in 1991, giving us the kick-start we needed to fulfil our purpose to make a positive difference in people’s lives. By the early 2000s, we were a staple in Aussie wardrobes, the go-to for effortless casual fashion. Our Aussie spirit means we don’t take ourselves too seriously. We go about things boldly and differently, and we’re OK with that. We believe some of the best plans are made over beers in the backyard. And so beers were had and plans were made.
Today, we have 8 brands across 22 countries and 1,500 stores. Powered by 20,000 team members, who together with our customers, are making a positive impact through one life-changing Foundation.

The Good is a movement to create meaningful change and channel our focus on what matters most. It’s about building sustainable futures through the expansion of the Cotton On Foundation, and supporting and protecting our people and the planet. And it’s about celebrating differences while strengthening connections—because we know we’re stronger together.

Meet Naomi
You’ll find Naomi in-store styling the perfect ‘fit for her customers while building great relationships with her workmates. Naomi loves her ‘close-knit’ crew, and by working here, she’s exposed to the ins and outs of our global fashion brand.
Meet Will
Retail Cotton On team member, university goer, local footy player and oat latte drinker. Will’s favourite thing about clocking on is the fun he has with mates on his team while helping customers style the latest edits. Passionate about The Good and Cotton On Foundation, Will loves that, “We don’t just sell clothes, we change lives.”
Meet Rhian
Leader of Cotton On’s social team. Rhian’s team is full of creative go-getters who deliver BIG for our customer. Based at our Global Support Centre in Australia, Rhian thrives on midday Pilates power-ups and chef-prepared meals from our onsite cafe. And the best part? She gets to bring Benji to work every day.
Meet Elijah
E-commerce Team Leader at our Distribution Centre. Elijah loves that his team are ‘smiles all round’ and finds the most reward in seeing our people grow. By nurturing the next generation of leaders, Elijah encourages ideas and supports his team to be their healthiest selves at work and beyond.
