Fashion Reuse for Good

9th June, 2026

As part of the Cotton On business’ recently launched Sustainability Academy, team at its Global Support Centre in Geelong, Australia, took part in a Conscious Conversations session Fashion Reuse for Good – exploring the businesses circular fashion initiatives and how new product no longer suitable for sale can play a meaningful role in creating positive change with Thread Together.

The Sustainability Academy is designed to educate and inspire team across the business, helping embed responsible and sustainable thinking into the everyday. The ongoing program will include speaker sessions, case studies and content to bring fresh insight, spark meaningful conversation and connect our teams to opportunities that make a positive impact across the business and for customers.

We’re taking a holistic approach to our product lifecycle – from how we purchase and plan our product to circular fashion partnerships. From our innovative resale partnership with eBay Australia, to reuse programs with Thread Together in Australia and World Vision in the US, and recycling through UPPAREL, Cotton On is continuing to explore and test circular initiatives, keeping products in use for longer and making a positive impact.
Fashion Reuse for Good focused on how reuse can extend the life of products while supporting communities in need through Cotton On’s partnership with Thread Together. Through this collaboration, new stock that is no longer suitable for sale across Cotton On brands is redirected through Thread Together’s national network to people experiencing hardship, including those affected by domestic violence, natural disasters and financial stress.

Once donated, stock is sorted and categorised before being distributed through a range of Thread Together channels, including boutique clothing hubs, mobile wardrobes, women’s shelters and online ordering for frontline organisations. This model ensures people can access clothing with choice, dignity and respect.

For many, access to new clothing through Thread Together provides more than just a practical benefit.
While the environmental impact is important, it’s the human stories that really bring this to life. For many people, it’s the first time they’ve been able to choose new clothing that fits and feels like them, something that can have a huge impact on confidence and how they show up in life.

“The impact we see consistently is practical, emotional and psychological,” Thread Together CEO Anthony Chesler said. “Because when you feel better in what you’re wearing, you show up differently in the world. At its core, our work is about restoring dignity and creating the conditions for a fresh start.”

Through initiatives like this, Cotton On is helping divert product from landfill and creating meaningful, lasting change in the community. It reflects a broader commitment to making a positive difference in people’s lives, where strong partnerships and shared purpose come together to create Good for people and the planet.

As Anthony said the partnerships like this turn what could be a complex excess inventory challenge into a seamless social impact solution.
