New Zealand turns pink
9th May, 2024
Update as of 28 May 2024
Together we raised NZD $633,000 to support Pink Shirt Day and the Mental Health Foundation of New Zealand in their mission to stand against bullying. That’s 38,000 people across New Zealand wearing pink shirts to show their commitment to being Everyday Upstanders.
100% of proceeds will provide schools, workplaces and communities with resources and education about bullying and how to prevent it. Your contribution will also help facilitate inclusivity workshops and develop a well-being initiative for young people. Thank you!
This Friday 17 May, we’ll join communities across New Zealand to take a stand against bullying, harassment and discrimination. To learn how you can get involved, click here.
Shaun Robinson, chief executive of the Mental Health Foundation of New Zealand, says, “By wearing a pink t-shirt on Friday 17 May, you’re showing a commitment to creating a kinder, more inclusive Aotearoa where everyone feels safe, valued, and respected regardless of gender identity, sexual orientation, age, ability, religion, or cultural background.”
The Mental Health Foundation is proud to be partnering with Cotton On for the sixth year in a row.
Tim Diamond, General Manager of Cotton On Foundation says, “By helping raise awareness and understanding of the impact of bullying on young people’s mental health and wellbeing, we can help create a world where every young person can feel safe and included. We’re looking forward to mobilising our incredible community of team members and customers to be part of this movement of Upstanders.”
We look forward to mobilising our team and customers to become Everyday Upstanders. An Everyday Upstander is an individual who uses their words and actions to support those being bullied, and is the very concept that started Pink Shirt Day in Canada in 2007.
Let’s make Friday 17 May the biggest Pink Shirt Day yet! Together, we can create a safer, more inclusive world, where bullying has no place as we continue to live out our purpose of making a positive difference in people’s lives.
