Uniting for youth mental health
15th November, 2024
This October, in recognition of World Mental Health Day and World Mental Health Month, we mobilised our global team to fundraise and raise awareness for youth mental health.
Thanks to the generosity of our customers and the hard work of our team, we’re able to share some exciting results from our mental health campaigns.
On 31 October, we wrapped up our second year of partnership with Born This Way Foundation, continuing our mission to build a kinder world where every young person can thrive.
We’re steadfast in our goal of ensuring every young person has someone to turn to, and AUD $1.6 million from the proceeds of Cotton On Foundation product and donations sold this October goes a long way to making that a reality. Supporting Born This Way Foundation, 100% of these proceeds will expand the reach of the Be There Certificate—a free, online learning course designed to provide participants with the knowledge, skills and confidence needed to support someone struggling with their mental health.
Additionally, funds raised will help Born This Way Foundation to reach young people and communities across the US, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, the UK, Malaysia, Thailand, Hong Kong, Singapore, and Brazil by:
- Reaching young people through our 65 Kindness in Community Fund grantees (chosen by our team and customers) and other community-based organisations, as well as schools and universities
- Reaching young people through youth ambassadors, who will be equipped to share about the resource with their peers

This month we also celebrated our Australian mental health partner, LifeChanger, for reaching an incredible 113,000 students through their mentoring programs, focused on empowering students to champion their mental health and wellbeing.
Then, an impactful month proved even more so, with Cotton On Foundation named among the top 10 philanthropic funders financing global mental health in Prospira Global’s annual Global Mental Health Financing Insights Report. To read more about this, click here.
We also work closely with the Mental Health Foundation New Zealand to take a stand against bullying each Pink Shirt Day, and Strong Brother Strong Sister, who provide guidance, mentorship and empowerment to young First Nations people on Wadawurrung County.
Thank you to our team, partners and customers for supporting us during World Mental Health Month and beyond. We know there’s more work to be done on our mission to reduce stigma and increase access to prevention and mental health services for 10 million people by 2030. But with your support, we know we can shift the dial on mental health, for Good.
