Our Hearts Go Out To Our NZ Mates

1st March, 2023

AOTEAROA, OUR COMMUNITIES AND OUR WHANAU CALLED. WE ANSWERED TOGETHER.

As an Australian business who has operated in New Zealand since 2006, we’re devastated by the impact the severe floods and cyclone events across Auckland and North Island are having on the New Zealand community.

We started Cotton On Foundation with the mission to make a positive difference in people’s lives. So, from February 21st to March 7th, we donated 100% of proceeds from COF product sales and donations online and in-store in New Zealand to New Zealand Red Cross New Zealand Disaster Fund.

We had a goal of delivering $50,000 over the 2 week period, and as usual, our team and customers rolled up their sleeves to smash this target.

In total, $63,500 was raised to help New Zealand Red Cross provide vital humanitarian support to the people and communities affected by Cyclone Gabrielle and prepare for future emergencies in New Zealand.

To the individuals and communities that have been working around the clock – thank you, and stay safe.

HOW WILL FUNDS BE USED?

It’s estimated that over 10,000 New Zealanders have been displaced by recent cyclone and extreme weather events. Based on ongoing needs assessment across Aotearoa and the funds raised:

  • Funds may be used for any activity dedicated to the response to, recovery from and preparedness for emergencies affecting Aotearoa New Zealand.
  • This includes initial and ongoing response, replacing supplies and equipment, community recovery, preparing for and building capacity to respond to future emergencies and disasters, and partnering with others to help meet communities’ needs associated with emergencies and disasters.
