What is Holistic Education?

6th January, 2025

We’re all about creating learning environments that inspire the future leaders of tomorrow, by providing education and pathways to meaningful employment. Under our Holistic Education pillar, we have focused on bringing unique and tailored education solutions to each of the communities we work in, from the day we partner with a school.

But what does that look like?

Holistic Education is about creating a learning space where children can grow in every part of their life – this includes helping them feel good emotionally and socially, while also encouraging them to explore and learn in creative ways. It focuses on allowing children to try out new things and understand the world in ways that make sense to them!

Why is Holistic Education important?

Holistic Education is important because it helps children develop academically, but also emotionally, socially, and creatively. It encourages children to be curious and confident, fostering a love for learning that lasts beyond school. It helps them connect with others, understand themselves better, and approach challenges in a positive way, making them better equipped to navigate the world and succeed in life.

Introducing Busibo and Namabaale Primary Schools, and Dr JL Dube High School!

Part of delivering Holistic Education to the students we support is making sure they have functional, inspiring schools to learn in. In just over a year, Cotton On Foundation has completed construction of three of our biggest schools to date:

  • Namabaale Primary School in Uganda
  • Dr JL Dube High School in South Africa
  • Busibo Primary School in Uganda

Across the three schools, that’s 3,100 students receiving a holistic education.

And, our pursuit of delivering Holistic Education isn’t slowing down now – next up, Busibo Senior School in Uganda!

With your support, we can’t wait to transform the school for its 800 students! 100% of proceeds from the sale of Cotton On Foundation products and donations contribute to our projects and partnerships around the globe empowering youth to thrive.
