Cotton On Foundation’s first project in Brazil
9th December, 2024
We’re always driven by our purpose: to make a positive difference in people’s lives. This extends beyond our four walls, to our people, our customers, the planet and the communities where we live and work. That’s why we’re proud to announce our new impact partner in Brazil, Gerando Falcões. This is our first official partnership in the region, and through proceeds of the Cotton On Foundation product and donations, we’ll be helping to positively impact the lives of young people and their families. The Cotton On Foundation is contributing R$3 million (AU$795,000) over the next three years towards the non-profit’s project Favela 3D at Cidade de Deus.
The Gerando Falcões Network supports youth, leaders and favela residents by delivering education, economic development and citizenship services in favela territories. Favelas are densely packed and poorly planned neighbourhoods with limited access to public services on the outskirts of Brazilian cities. Based on personal experiences and local knowledge, the organisation believes in transforming the lives of these groups through a combination of socio-emotional education, professional education and access to work and technologies.
“We are thrilled to embark on a new philanthropic partnership with Gerando Falcões, furthering our commitment to positive change. Working with our partners, customers, and team, we will be able to make an even greater difference for the people of Brazil and further align the market with our global strategy – sustainable growth to do more Good. We are committed to helping build a better future, especially for young people, and with our new partners at Gerando Falcões cannot wait to see the impact we’re able to make,” says Pierre Schrappe, Cotton On Country Manager of Brazil.

CEO and Founder of Gerando Falcões, Edu Lyra, says the success of the NGO relies on partnerships like ours.
“Currently, Gerando Falcões supports more than 5,500 favelas, reaching more than 740,000 people in the 26 states of the country. This is possible thanks to social actors such as the government, NGOs, civil society and private companies. Partnerships and support like Cotton On’s are essential because they enable us to break down walls and build bridges to reduce poverty in the country.”
As one of the first Australian retailers to open independently in Brazil in 2014, we’re so proud of our 260 local team members, 29 stores, and online shop with more than 4,000 products across three of our eight global casual fashion brands – Cotton On, Cotton On Body and Cotton On Kids.
“I’m proud to say that our impact goes beyond just selling the products our customers love. It’s also about creating incredible career opportunities for local talent and developing our team, supporting the the local community and making a positive difference through our Foundation.” says Pierre.
We look forward to continuing to make a positive difference in people’s lives, and delivering incredible experiences for our team and customers, doing Good every step of the way.
